Networking

A little over the last decade, there has been a growing consciousness on the need for networking- a term, which was previously largely associated with computer programming. This awakening, was due to the benefits that can be traced to being in the right circles (as no man is an island).

As the idea of networking was being embraced, there was the need for the wealthy to organise networking events, while those who want to access its benefits need to pay heavily to enjoy the gathering (not like this situation does still exist, but there are other methods now).

Atthese networking events, participants get a chance to meet individuals in related fields, exchange complimentary cards, share ideas, get insights, establish business opportunities, acquire prospects and future customers, etc. (this list is endless). The down side once the event is over could be anything from:

  1. misplaced complimentary card
  2. No sustained impression/personalities/skills/expertise
  3. A need to remind your new friend of who you are next time you get in touch
  4. And so on.

I want to believe that, it is the many successful networking outings that gave rise to strategies like crowd-sourcing; as well as the ideas for social networking – so you see, there is no limit to the benefits of networking; only that, its the good may not be tapped if it is done wrongly or not done at all.

We would leave you today, to think about yourself as your own networking agent, do let us know how well you have been representing yourself, because in the next couple of weeks, we would be bringing you tips on how to brand yourself to enable you tap into the goodness of the kinds of networking that is obtained in our world today.

KCL is poised to growing a confident group (individuals and young businesses alike), especially with the reality that our socio-economic condition is forcing most to be entrepreneurs, we must be able to carve a niche for ourselves, as well as defend that niche when we find ourselves in a room with similar service providers.

This may be the wake up call you have been waiting for. Take Advantage!
